How to Calculate a Discount Easily
Learn how to calculate discounts, final price and total savings using a simple formula.
Contenido
Calculating a discount is a common operation when buying products on sale, creating promotions or checking how much a customer saves.
The basic formula is:
Original price x discount percentage / 100
For example, if a product costs $1000 and has a 20% discount:
1000 x 20 / 100 = 200
That means the discount is $200.
Then subtract the discount from the original price:
1000 - 200 = 800
The final price would be $800.
This calculation is useful for stores, ecommerce, estimates and commercial campaigns. If you manage several products or discounts, it is easier to use an automatic calculator.
Before publishing a promotion, review original price, applied percentage, real discount amount, final price, profit margin and promotion validity.
Calculating discounts correctly helps sell better and avoids confusion with customers.
