How to take better document photos

  • Place the document on a flat surface.
  • Use good lighting and avoid shadows.
  • Photograph the page from directly above.
  • Make sure the text is focused and readable.
  • Rotate every image before creating the PDF.
  • Arrange the photographs in the correct sequence.

PDF quality and file size

Each image is inserted as one page in the final document. Higher-resolution photographs produce sharper pages, but they can also increase the PDF file size considerably.

High quality is recommended for printing. Medium quality is usually sufficient for sharing by email or messaging applications.

Tool limits and supported formats

  • Up to 100 images can be added to one document.
  • Each image can be up to 25 MB.
  • Supported formats are JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP.
  • The tool does not take photos directly; it uses images saved on your device.
  • Performance depends on browser memory and device processing power.

What happens to transparent PNG and WebP images

Images are converted to JPEG before being embedded in the PDF. Transparent areas are placed over a white background.

The conversion can also reduce image dimensions according to the selected quality. High quality preserves more detail, while medium and reduced quality create smaller files.

Page sizes, orientation and margins

  • A4 for general documents and international printing.
  • Letter for documents using the U.S. paper format.
  • Fit to image to adapt each page to its photograph.
  • Automatic, portrait or landscape orientation.
  • Margins of 0, 5, 10 or 20 millimeters.
